Happens every summer, RFA and their agents play chicken with one another waiting for another RFAs to be signed to help leverage in their contract talks by using new contracts are comparables

Barrie, Trouba, Lindholm, Ristolainen and to lesser Ceci, Orlov, Dumba...all RFA dmen who need new contracts still.

I'd like to think they're crafting a contract beneficial to both sides...I can't see the sabres low-balling him nor can I see risto and co. pulling any punches...

The only thing, I can think of is that they are waiting on Vesey to make his decision, so they can "financially" plan for the rest of the off-season. That may incur making other deals (Nash and Fowler- meh) being made, to fit them under the cap, before they resign Risto.
